About Rowan
Rowan Bradley is a psychotherapist and yoga teacher. She has over 25 years experience working in the area of health and healing, spanning both Eastern and Western modalities. Rowan specialises in relationship counselling, with a focus on connection.
Her work includes individual therapy, couples therapy, family constellations and energy balancing. Rowan also runs small tailored yoga classes, plus workshops and retreats.
Rowans personal journey through childhood, marriage and motherhood ignited the desire to work with couples and families as they face the challenges of intimacy, parenting and connection. Dysfunctional patterns of relating and communicating are simply learned and repeated. When couples are supported to translate feelings into words, this integrates the left and right sides of the brain, and allows individuals connect to the difference of the other, while keeping communication open.
Rowan is particularly passionate about relationships as they are the cornerstone of life and wellness. We are all connected but if we felt disconnected from our caregivers in childhood, it can often trigger long-term patters of feeling isolated, alone and fearful. This ultimately affects our health on all levels. Therefore changing these patterns can be completely transformative. It can improve our ability to form loving relationships with ourselves, our family and friends, and our intimate partner – which in turn radically improves our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health.
YOGA
Rowan initially trained as a Psychiatric Nurse before discovering yoga. Rowan’s regular yoga and meditation practice was central to her recovery from a life-threatening illness, and inspired her to attain a Diploma of Yoga Teaching. With this, she set up her own studio and spent a number of years teaching yoga and meditation. She also utilised the knowledge, and her deeper intuitive abilities to support individuals dealing with grief, trauma and loss of connection with themselves and the world through counselling and energetic healing.
Based on her experience as a yoga teacher Rowan includes mindfulness practices to attune each person to themselves and to each other, which is now supported by the latest neuroscience research.
Gestalt
As more and more individuals and couples were being referred to her for counselling and healing, Rowan decided it was time for more study. In her quest to understand the mind-body connection Rowan completed a Masters of Gestalt Therapy and Family Constellations, and continues to study Imago Therapy. All Rowan’s training and experience blend and integrate an approach based on making connection the primary goal, and primary focus of her work.
Gestalt Psychotherapy was the catalyst for her to understand the cycles that we are operating within and the way in which those cycles can be interrupted and unfinished which results in ongoing repetitive patterns which lead to unfulfilled experience and dissatisfaction. This understanding forms the basis to support individuals and couples to raise awareness of their situation and from this here and now place of acceptance, transformative change occurs.
Family Constellations
Her work is informed by her training in Family Constellations, which is a powerful method to help recognise difficult entanglements both in family of origin as well as in a present family or relationship. The interventions used can bring understanding and acceptance which allows love to flow freely again between members of the family system.
When Rowan isn’t working, she’s walking – along a beach, through a forest or up a mountain. And a Camino de Santiago pilgrimage is on the cards.
