The Root Chakra is the first chakra and is located at the base of the spine.
The Root Chakra is a vital life force energy centre.
It is the most instinctual of all chakras – it is your survival centre, it is the chakra of stability, security, and our basic needs.
The Root Chakra provides the links between our energetic system and the physical world and is our base for our life force energy.
Imbalances in our Root Chakra can be indicated by-:
Feeling restless
Lacking engergy - expressed as anxiety, worry, panic, depression, frustration, resentment, anger/rage
Poor focus or negative or narrow thinking
Red is the colour of the Chakra. Red pulls the retina forward so all of our energy and attention is focused outward - hence stop lights are red.
Maslows Hierarchy of needs
The similarity in the Chakra system and Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs has been noticed by a few writers. The image above has a remarkable similarity to the Chakra image - even with the colours used.
If you don’t feel safe, you can’t ever feel a sense of Trust, which is part of the Heart Chakra. Maslow’s theory was based on certain needs had to be met before a person graduated to the next level. Similar but not exactly the same as ancient Chakra system developed in the East.
